Group Financial Controller
The Role Objective
The Group Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization's operations across multiple subsidiaries or regions. This includes financial planning, reporting, compliance, risk management, and ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the group. The role requires strong leadership, analytical, and strategic planning skills to align financial objectives with the company's overall goals.
Key responsibilities are:
Financial Reporting and Accounting Oversight
• Lead the Preparation of timely and accurate consolidated financial statements across multiple countries, adhering to IFRS, GAAP, or other applicable standards.
• Conduct variance analysis, profitability assessments, and KPI tracking to inform decision-making.
• Lead all Technical accounting topics in compliance with IFRS in coordination with external auditors and consultants.
• Establish and maintain robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure data integrity and compliance.
• Support the Finance Shared Service Center in setting effective accounting processes across the various accounting functions to improve the financial reporting accuracy and reducing the closing time.
• Oversee in coordination with the Finance Shared Service Center month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes and reporting cycles.
• Monitor changes in international accounting standards and regulations, ensuring timely adaptation.
• Oversee the Balance Sheet review process across the Group and chair balance sheet review meetings.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasts process for the group and its subsidiaries.
• Provide financial projections and analysis to support business growth and expansion plans.
• Regularly review and adjust budgets to reflect actual performance and market conditions.
• Work with CEO/CFO on Financial Simulations, Projections and Target Setting.
• Develop Feasibility studies and present alternatives and recommendation to management.
• Working with the CFO to assist in the management of salary and related, property, CAPEX, and general operating costs across all markets, ensuring that approved ratios are met and that corresponding operating margin targets are maintained, and driving cost reduction initiatives.
Mergers, Acquisitions, and Investments
• Support due diligence and accounting integration for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
• Ensure seamless incorporation of financial records and reporting for newly acquired entities.
• Support CEO/CFO in reviewing potential acquisitions financial data, terms construct and deal structure, as well as legal documentation, Due Diligence on target entities, and post integration plan.
• Assist CFO in various financing rounds, including assessment of borrowing cost v/s
Dilution, review of Terms including investor due diligence.
Cash Flow Management
• Optimize capital structure and working capital management.
• Work with CFO and Share Service Team to maximize working capital performance by
monitoring working capital, collections and capital expenditure and Operational expense.
• Support cash flow planning and Forecasting.
Compliance, Risk and Regulatory Management
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, and regulatory requirements, and tax laws in all countries of operation.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of statutory reports, tax returns, and other required
disclosures
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
Financial Systems & Technology
• Drive the selection, implementation, and optimization of accounting and ERP systems to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
• Leverage technology to streamline accounting processes and improve data accuracy across regions.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
• Partner with the CFO and other senior leaders to provide insights into financial performance and decision-making.
• Coordinate with legal, tax, and operational teams to address cross-border financial challenges.
• Work with the market CFO and senior leadership team to ensure adherence and compliance across all markets and the Regional HQ with respect to Company and international accounting standards, Company policies and procedures, etc. taking prompt and effective actions to address issues or weaknesses identified through audit reports, and other sources of relevant data.
Team Leadership & Development
• Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team across multiple locations.
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee recruitment and succession planning for key finance roles.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly preferred.
• Prior experience in a reputable Audit firm and/or public listed company with technical
accounting exposure (required).
Experience
• Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in a senior financial management role, including roles in group-level or multinational organizations.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, international reporting standards, and tax
compliance across jurisdictions.
• Proven expertise in international accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP, etc.) and multi-
currency consolidations.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial modeling, and data analysis tools.
